        Letter in support of the Lofca family

        Honourable Jason Kenney Minister of Immigration;

        This is a letter regarding the matter of the Lofca family and the recent rejection of their request to remain in Canada on Humanitarian and Compassionate grounds.  I firmly support the granting of permanent residence status to the Lofca boys, Erxhyment, Kevin and Kliti as well as their father Shkelqim.  I would like to see the Lofca family granted  status in Canada immediately to allow them to resume a normal life after their devastating loss of their mother and wife, Etleva.

        I am familiar with the family situation that the Lofca boys have shared with their maternal uncle and aunt, their father and their young cousin and they are without question a single family unit that has suffered and will continue to suffer extreme hardship if they are separated.  I am aware that forcing a removal of the Lofca children would involve hardship not only to themselves but to their Canadian born cousin to whom they have been living with like siblings since she was a baby.

        I am deeply concerned that Immigration Canada acting in complete disregard for a court order issued in the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta reaffirming the connection of these siblings.  The court order both grants guardianship reflecting this connection and issues a condition that the children not be removed from Canada.  I believe Immigration Canada’s must respect the order of the court and allow the children to remain in Canada and be joined by their father without further delay.

        The Lofca family members have always shown that they possess a diligent work ethic, respect for the processes in Immigration and Canadian Law and a strong commitment to family. The boys have shown excellence in their school environment and have strong support from their teachers and counsellors.  Shkelqim Lofca possesses a number of needed skills for our region and has a valid offer of work in a profession that is among the needed professions in Alberta.  The Lofca family has demonstrated that they are a family of integrity and character that is deserving of permanent residence.

        I have heard and understood the factors of this case and I firmly believe that the Lofca family, deserves to be allowed to stay in Canada.  I will continue to follow this case intently and am anxiously awaiting the outcome.

        Sincererly,
